1,400 6th grade pupils participated in IKANDA, the first congress for children in Flanders, held on November 17th, 2009. The congress was organized by the Education Department of the Flemish Government and the Flanders District of Creativity. IKANDA is a place where passion and talent come together.

At this congress, the organizers wanted 12-year-olds to take their future into their own hands. They had the opportunity to meet inspiring Flemish people such as Stijn Meuris, a singer with a passion for astronomy, Dixie Dansercoer, a polar explorer, Elodie Ouédraogo, a runner and Marc de Bel, a writer, while they participated in various activities related to culture, sports, science, technology, and entrepreneurship.

One of these activities was moderated by the IPF. The students had the opportunity to follow in the footsteps of polar explorers and discover the poles, their inhabitants and the animals living there with the 3D-puzzles of the North and South Poles. At the same time, the IPF promoted Class Zero Emission, an educational workshop located at the IPF's Brussels headquarters.
