The sheet on "Coral Reefs" is part of the Biodiversity & climate change dossier.

This sheet focuses on the effects of climate change on coral reefs. It explains the relationship of symbiosis that exists between the polyp and algae within each coral head. It also introduces the effects an increased water temperature can have on the coral environment, that is coral bleaching and sea water acidification.

To put theory into practice, the sheet presents a group activity that will demonstrate how excess water acidity affects the marine environment. It also offers resources from which you can gather further information.
