As part of a public awareness programme supported by the Walloon Region, the International Polar Foundation (IPF) has issued an educational CD-ROM focusing on energy.

The energy CD-ROM was designed for teachers and environmental educators. It addresses energy within the broader perspective of climate change and it gives some tips to young people about what they can do for the environment.

There are 15 multimedia animations on the CD-ROM that deal with key questions such as:

    • What is energy, and where does it come from?
    • How much does energy cost?
    • Which sectors consume a lot of energy in Belgium and the rest of Europe?
    • What is the current state of our natural resource reserves throughout the world?
The CD-ROM also deals with topics such as electricity, the ecological footprint, passive buildings, biofuels and the rational use of energy…

With all these topics covered, the CD-ROM is a visual aid for a fun and interactive approach to discussing today’s energy issues.
